Mmmhmm Coffee / Ballard Seattle
I am a simple man. Coffee, beer, and weed are all I really need. Well, I have found my home base at Mmmhmm Coffee. Nestled in the Hilliards Brewery & Tap Room Mmmhmm coffee operates a medium sized espresso bar that serves Durham, N.C.’s Counter Culture Coffee & house-made specialty beverages.
Mmmhmm has top of the line equipment across the board; La Marzocco Strada espresso machine, Mahlkoenig EK43 grinder (These are like never available due to high demand), and taps for cold brew coffee.
My good friend John French the owner/founder of Mmmhmm greeted me as I entered the space. He asked what I would like so I responded with “whatever you think is bangin’!”. John pulled a most excellent shot of Counter Culture’s 20th anniversary single origin Hacienda El Roble. I supremely enjoyed this very well balanced and silky smooth espresso.
Seating at Hilliard’s is very dude-bro basement, in the best way. The tables are mismatched and there’s a couch that I’m pretty certain came from an alley somewhere (totes clean though). There is ample wi-fi but outlets are limited so make sure that you’re all charged up before you visit. If you forget that you’re in a brewery you’ll be reminded of that fact when they start canning beers! It’s a little loud but kinda mesmerizing to watch. Too loud or beautiful day? There’s a great outdoor seating area for you to enjoy the nice weather and sip on your beverage. I also did a pot when I was there but don’t tell nobody!
Last but not least you HAVE to try the Chai Ginger Beer. It is the most perfectly spicy ginger beer I’ve ever tasted. Like, I so wanted a bucket of it to sip on for the rest of the day. Beware though, this is a highly popular drink that’s made in small batches so sometimes they run out.

I’ve been smoking a lot of recreational cannabis lately so I decided to change things up and visit my friendly local medical marijuana dispensary. Axis is my favorite dispensary because it’s super close to my bus stop AND donuts! Axis Management is conveniently located directly behind a donut shop. You literally walk through the donut aroma to the weed shop. It times like these that make me so happy I’m not gluten intolerant.
For real though the budtenders are super knowledgeable and have always given me solid recommendations for my meds. The herb is high quality, customer service is on point, and if you aren’t satisfied let them know! They want to make sure you have the best meds and experience possible.
Girl Scout Cookies have been popular for a minute but for some reason I never go around to giving it a try. That all changed this week. Like it says up top these bright green buds are covered in sticky icky trichomes and orange hairs. What really sold me is the high! I had a few hits from my new chillum and settled into some Ancient Aliens. It was pretty entertaining for about half an hour and then I was compelled to hunker down and get some internetting done. What I ended up with was three blog posts and a whole bunch of scheduled social media posts. This shit put me in the zone! Not only did the GSC give me laser focus for my work it also gave me a creative jolt. Being high on GSC is kinda like how a delicious cup of coffee picks you up in the afternoon.
I haven’t found a strain this appealing since I ran across some Jack’s Cleaner a couple of years ago. I’m officially addicted to Girl Scout Cookies! Next time you hit up your favorite medical dispensary of recreational store make for damn sure you pick up some GSC if they have it.

Phat Panda Blackberry Kush

Appearance: Dark purple buds with orange hairs and bright green stem.
Smoke: Grape and marionberry with a hashy bite to it. Buckets of dark berry notes that changed as I smoked like an Everlasting Gobstopper.
Aroma: Blueberry pie and grape jam!
Effects: I haven’t encountered an Indica so uplifting. Like ever!
Pandas are my most favorite animal/anything in all the world. They are cute and cuddly looking with their adorable faces and almost human behavior but they can also rip your face off and eat you. I consider myself a panda and most people only know me as Panda. You can imagine how excited I was to stumble upon some Blackberry Kush from PHAT PANDA!!!!!
The Blackberry Kush was extremely uplifting. It got me inspired, relaxed and focused! If you’re looking to do some studying or cleaning or writing then Blackberry Kush needs to be in your rotation. Even after multiple smoke sessions the uplifting effects stayed with me and continued to fuel my creativity never turning into a heavy couch lock feeling. As if it needed to be any better the kush smells like the most bomb blueberry pie you could imagine. I found myself opening the jar throughout the day just to take a whiff of that sweet aroma. The cherry on top of all of this is that because Blackberry Kush is an Indica heavy hybrid it doesn’t make ya all paranoid and anxious.
I could seriously go for a giant pile of this stuff! This was my first time smoking anything from Phat Panda and it definitely won’t be the last! I think it’s safe to say that if you see anything from Phat Panda at your local i502 Recreational Marijuana retailer then you should pick up a few grams and blaze up!

Square Wonderful!
Spro & Dro has been a little heavy on the dro so we’re back to talk about some tasty coffee! This is the second opportunity we’ve had to drank on some tasty Square One Coffee. This time we’re sipping on some Colombia Finca Filadelfia.
Shoutout to the Square One wholesale crew for hooking me up! Y’all are super dope.
Equipment:
We went full Hario on this one! The Filadelfia beans were ground using a Hario Slim Mill hand grinder, brewed via V60 dripper w/Hario filters and into a Hario range server. We used a Bonavita kettle to pour hot water over crushed up beans.
Dry Aroma:
Cocoa and brown sugar.
Brew:
30g coffee to 540g of water. Brew time was 3m:40s total.
Cup:
The Filadelfia has a slight cranberry tartness and beautiful green apple acidity with a slight sweet finish. As the coffee cools a bit of milk chocolate and pecan comes through which is followed by a tiny bit of clove. Holds up well to donuts and Kushberry too.
This particular coffee is sold out but try any of their offerings and you won’t be disappointed!

Aroma: Much like the name suggest this stuff smells like lemon, the Sunkist kind that come covered in wax and surrounded by a mesh bag.
Appearance: Fat buds with a white hue from the crystals.
Smoke: This stuff is pretty easy to hit. Not too heavy.
Effects: We noticed that Lemon Kush has two sides. When smoked in the morning it can have a very focusing effect. We recommend drinking a cup of Stumptown Honduras Finca El Puente about half an hour after you smoke to get yourself off the ground. Hit that shit at night though and your ass is asleep.
Rating: Gotta have it!

Our good “buds” at Sprudge ran a story today about a Washington company that is making weed laced cold brew coffee! The company is Mirth Provisions and they have plans to introduce even more weed infused beverages in the near future. Aroma: Sweet, very fresh pine sap, lime.
Appearance: Slightly fluffy with lots of crystals and yellow hairs. Buds are golden green.
Smoke: Piney up front with a clean lavender finish. Not harsh at all.
Effects: Pez is a true session bud. It’s highly smoke able because it’s not too harsh on the lungs and the effects of the sativa are very uplifting. Pez is great for weekends or to get a creative boost for after work. We’ll be getting more of this for the office for sure!
